Stroud District Council launches its public consultation on the future of the Blackboy Clock. The invitation to respond states: ‘This review is to ensure statues and commemorations, as well as the names of streets and buildings, are representative of local people’s values and those of a modern, inclusive Council.’
Consultees are asked to describe how the clock makes them feel in three words; explain what they think should happen to the clock in as many words as they'd like; vote yes or no if the building should be renamed; and write if there are any other historical places that should be reviewed in the district.
The eight-week consultation also includes space to feed back on the council’s draft equality, diversity, and inclusion policy. ‘We’re committed to equality, diversity and inclusion – but there’s more to do and you can be involved.’
