Blackboy Clock is assembled and displayed on a shopfront on Kendrick Street
The Blackboy Clock, which incorporates a childlike blackamoor figure, is assembled by watchmaker John Miles for the shopfront he lives above in Stroud’s town centre. It is not known if Miles creates the Blackboy figure for his clock or if he adapts a pre-existing figure into its mechanism. Given that Miles is not trained as a woodcarver, the latter is likely.
