Dan Guthrie writes an Instagram post responding to MP Siobhan Baillie’s statement on the Blackboy Clock and Baillie’s subsequent complaint that her comments were ‘taken out of context’ by the Stroud News & Journal.
Guthrie screenshots another letter he is sending to Baillie seeking clarification on what she disagreed with. Guthrie also supplied comments to the same SNJ article, and writes to Baillie, ‘Like yourself, what I had written was edited down to make room for other opinions to be heard and I had no problem with that whatsoever.’
Guthrie also makes note of the ‘hundreds of social media comments reacting to the news of the consultation, demeaning and invalidating the opinions of Black and Minority Ethnic people’, and asks Baillie a series of questions about whether her statement aligns with her work with anti-racist organisations, and whether it may be stoking further division.
