Anti-Slavery Arch is upgraded to Grade II* listing by Historic England

In the bicentenary year of the 1807 Act for the Abolition of the Slave Trade, the arch’s listing is upgraded to Grade II* status. It is described as ‘an extremely unusual monument in the form of a private triumphal arch, celebrating a public victory’ and noted as being ‘Britain’s oldest anti-slavery memorial’.
