Anti-Slavery Arch is restored again

A group of local campaigners form ‘The Anti-Slavery Arch Group’ to raise funds for the monument’s repair. Led by Anne Mackintosh of the Stroud Preservation Trust, the group raises £25,000 which includes major stone repairs to the arch. The money raised also funds a community educational project including a website, a leaflet, a bronze plaque, and a play. The restoration sparks an awareness campaign at nearby Archway School, named after the arch, on the plight of modern slaves.
